They are all over the beaches down by where my family lives – so – no – I don’t find them that scary. I would if I were IN the water and one bobbed by though. OUCH!
I think I’ve seen one from a boat once, but never while I’ve been in the water. I think I be pretty scared if I was in the water with one! From a safe distance, I think they’re quite beautiful, in a jellyfishy kind of a way!
Haha. My irrational fear (everyone has one) is of Jellyfish. So you imagine how I feel about Man o’ Wars! In all seriousness thought, I can imagine that, looking at the underwater, they would look quite beautiful…
I must admit that I didnt even know what a Portuguese Man o’ War was! (Therefore I wasnt scared-how can you be scared of something you don’t know about right) But I looked it up and found out that it isnt even a single organism but a colonial organism made up of many individuals called zooids! How cool is that. I also found out that it is venemous and that the sting hurts, so now I am not scared but I will know to avoid it if I saw one, so you see the more you know about something the less you are scared! So could we say that fear is a state between not knowing at all and knowing enough??
