I guess there is some risk involved with going out on ships or aircraft to collect data – especially as I’m usually interested in things that happen when it’s really really windy. However, the guys who operate these things *really* know what they’re doing, so the risks are very small.

I work with a lot of dangerous chemicals in the lab so yes. You need to know what you are dealing with and take precausions accordingly.

If I get lazy or forgetful – VERY dangerous. I’m working with one of the deadliest animals on the planet. Having said that – it’s much more likely that someone will run me over while I’m biking to and from work than I will get injured at work. (My university actually did a study on this topic – what’s the most dangerous thing about working here? Riding your bicycle!)

I work on ships and with dangerous chemicals, but we take safety precautions, like wearing gloves and hard hats. I’m sure I do more dangerous things without realising it, like crossing the road!
