What an interesting idea. When do I say something is ‘high’? Well, I know when late is late – and that is 12:12am like it is for me right now. I’ll get back to this question!
I suppose that’s one of those things that can only be expressed relative to something! For example, an ant might say, if you could ask one, the 30 cms was quite high – but that’s nearly on the floor when I look down at it. Equally, I’d say that 30 metres is quite high, but if you could ask, say, a giant redwood tree (I admit I may be pushing the bounds of likelihood, here), then he/she/it would probably say that 30 m is pretty near the floor.
This may just be a longwinded way of saying don’t know! What do you think?
