      Now: Not very much

In Madagascar: 40% on my time was in the water, 60% of it was doing paperwork. I enjoyed it all though!

It’s mostly data analysis and paper work for me! I guess going to sea about once a year may be typical for someone in my field. However, when we do go to sea, it can be for quite a long time – the last cruise I went on lasted about a month!

Not that much, but when I don’t go to sea I don’t mostly do paperwork I do experiments in the lab which is a lot of fun!

I get about 1 6-week cruise every 3-5 years. I get some more local fieldwork every year. That’s enough, as there’s lots of work both before and after a big cruise.

I try to go to sea to do my paperwork! It makes it go by faster. 🙂 Right now I’m mainly doing paperwork, but once the field season gets back up and running I’ll mainly be doing ocean work and lab work (with lots of paperwork in the evenings.)
