I’ve stood on the deck of a research ship looking down at sea snakes (very poisonous). It felt kind of creepy at first, but I knew they couldn’t get me, so I wasn’t really scared. One of my friends managed to catch one and pick it up by mistake. She wasn’t bitten, but I think she felt shaken up for the rest of the day!

I don’t think I’ve ever been too close to many dangerous animals. Though, when I lived in Africa I saw a few snakes at quite close quarters, and never felt very comfortable around them.

Well – there was that time the sea urchin went through my foot. So – that was pretty close. And the time the jellyfish stuck to my chest stinging me all over – that was pretty close, too. But in terms of the REAL deadlies – about six inches. I was about six inches away from a textile cone snail – one of the deadliest animals on the planet. How did I feel, “OMG! Is that?!?! OH WOW!!! THAT’S A TEXTILE CONE SNAIL!!!! OH OH OH OH I CAN’T WAIT TO TELL EVERYONE ABOUT IT!!!!’ in a nutshell. :0)
