      Hey Shyguy,

Ten Nukes? They dropped 20 on Bikini atoll for nuclear weapons tests during the 1940s and 50s!

This has represented a really interesting study as these tests completely wiped out all life in the waters surrounding them, causing a huge crater. Recently, some scientists conducted surveys on the crater and found the Hard Corals had started to grow again in the bombsite and are now flourishing!

So what would happen? Well, I pray we never have to find out but the devastation would be huge and immediate in the local area but, over time, recovery may occur like on Bikini Atoll…

      I suspect I’d be arrested 🙂

As Sean said, many bombs have been set off in the ocean and caused massive damage – but it will recover eventually.

Personally I hope to never see another atomic weapon set off — they really aren’t very nice things.

At best, nothing – they’d just sink! At worst – lots of death and destruction. 🙁

The main long term problem would be contamination of the environment with radioactive elements, which cause health problems in humans and probably other animals too.
