• Question: What're the disappointments in your job?

      Hmmm, for me, it’s when you miss out on things like funding for your projects. You know you’ve got a great project, you know how you’ll spend the money, you know that you need the money and all you need to do is make a panel of people come to the same conclusion… Harder than it sounds and it can be very disheartening to hear that you didn’t get it. Still, you have to get back up every time and learn from your mistakes and hope that you get it right next time!

      Yeah, thinking you’ve got a really good idea, only to find that the people who control the money don’t agree totally with you can be pretty disappointing. Also, just having what you think is a good idea, but turns out not to work! On the whole, though, I find that the disappointments are few and far between and are greatly outweighed by the good bits!
