I’m not a biologist, so shall defer to one of the others!

Actually I have never been underwater, I can’t even dive because I have an ear condition, I would have loved to though. But as a marine biologist my favourite thing must have been catching krill in Sweden and sampling krill in Tasmania 🙂 So that tells you that you can do a lot of fun things in marine biology without actually having to go under water 🙂

I’m not really a biologist either (I am a bit of a biologist, i try to keep up with the real ones). The best thing I have done underwater is go to the bottom of the Arabian Sea in Shinkai 6500, the deepest diving research submarine in the world. I only went to 1140 m, but that is still much deeper than you can go scuba diving.

Cartwheels. Seriously. I’m not kidding. I was diving in the Red Sea and there was this long sand patch – and I took off my fins, sank to the sand, made myself neutrally buoyant and just proceeded to do completely ‘weightless’ cartwheels. That’s the closest I’ll probably ever come to being in a zero g environment, as I doubt I’ll ever be an astronaut. So – the freedom to move effortlessly – heaven!
